Jungle Love

April 25th, 2017 • Posted by Rosemary Bigelow • Permalink

We're in design mode here at MGL and very excited about our newest collection, Jungle Love. The predominantly gray color scheme makes for a collection that is soothing and exciting at the same time. Anchored by the beautifully drawn Jungle Love and Javan, the coordinating leapord print and accented with a variety of faux furs, suede and wovens + the unexpected punch of the pimento print, Le Tigre. Our design board is done and we'd love your input on how you'd like to see the collection developed.

December 2016 Showtime Fabric Show

December 6th, 2016 • Posted by Rosemary Bigelow • Permalink

I'm just back from High Point and the semi-annual Showtime Market where the latest fabric trends are seen for furniture and home decor. Major trends are: Global and Tribal looks; Lots of Embroidered fabrics; Grain and Marble designs; Lots of Blue; Black and White; Performance fabrics for the trend to outdoor living and multi-task rooms.

Blues and Greens were a popular trend with blue becoming a new neutral. I loved emerald green mixed with blue and grass green on black backgrounds; examples are from the new Madcap Cottage Collection and Valiant.

Beautiful embroideries and appliques were seen in abundance.  Pink Flamingos popped up in several lines.  The richly colored mythical creatures were truly unique; the fabric is woven to order.  The cloud blue embroidery would be exquisite in bedding or draperies. Examples shown are from Golding, Valdese Weavers and Valiant.

Black and white is big this season in both furniture and fashion. My favorites were this fabulous black and white graphic reminiscient of a Picasso painting and the jungle print in black on gray with beautifully drawn groupings of wild animals and a terrific coordinate.  Visions of a black and white grouping are dancing in my head and are sure to include these new prints from Kravet and Covington.

There's always a great novelty print that catches my attention; this fantastical mermaid print from Covington gets my vote.

This 4 minute You Tube video gives a synopsis of the trends at the High Point Furniture Market this past April. Lots of embellishment, large scale patterns and beautiful color are themes running through the comments - everything we love at MGL! Click here to see the You Tube video or read the whole article at HP Market News

Our new collections are very much in keeping with these trends.  See the beautiful teal Ocean Coastal Bedding, the bright pink and orange floral Summer Joy Bedding  and fabulous Garfield.
